Volunteer Vets

Over the past 6 years, Aanifeira has been extremely fortunate to receive a large number of volunteers in the veterinary field.  Some are fully qualified veterinarians whilst others are veterinary students attending various universities around the world.  Their objective is to gain experience in the veterinary field at a shelter clinic and this is achieved under the supervision and guidance of our own veterinarians at the clinic.

They have come from such countries as Australia, Austria, Canada, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, England, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, U.S.A. and Wales and their work has been invaluable in helping to better serve Aanifeira members and their animals as well as the resident animals at the shelter.

They all come in good spirits and with a great willingness to learn all about the veterinary procedures at a non-profit shelter clinic.    Work at the Aanifeira clinic is a far cry from their own faculties of veterinary science, as they had an opportunity to see a diverse range of services on a day to day basis for not only Aanifeira’s member’s animals, but very importantly, the resident shelter animals and all of this was done with enthusiasm, stamina and energy!

Our sincerest thanks go out to those volunteers who have passed through Aanifeira, for all your hard work and enthusiasm in helping us through difficult times.  We very much hope that you will keep in touch with us and always feel free to come and visit us if you are back in Portugal!

To those who are yet to come out and do their voluntary internship with us, we very much look forward to welcoming you here.
