Summer Heats up with Aanifeira Events

Things have been really heating up this summer with Aanifeira continuing to participate in more fundraising events to raise money for the shelter.  During the past month, Aanifeira Management team member and volunteer Angela Quaresma, who is in charge of Portuguese events, has been very busy doing the organization and PR for all of our summer events.   Along with participation in music concerts, boutique clothing launches, medieval fairs plus appearances on local television, she recently organized for this past week:

Tuesday August 14th – New Face Club bar and SMF TV (local television station from Santa Maria da Feira), hosted a ‘Cats & Dogs Party ‘ with part of the proceeds going to Aanifeira.  The party got underway after dinner with good music and dancing into the small hours of the morning.

Part of Aanifeira’s Management Team were at the ‘Cats & Dogs Party’ bringing along friends and family to support the cause.

This past week also, in another fundraising mission, Aanifeira has a stall at the Santa Maria de Lamas local festival.  Santa Maria de Lamas is a parish within the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira and although the stall is small, the festival itself draws a large crowd of adults and children all willing to make a donation, play a game of ‘fish’ or generally find out more about an animal shelter.  It extends from 17 – 21 August and various volunteers man the stall in shifts for afternoons and evenings.

Helping to make this a success is the fact that all prizes have all been donated by local companies and private individuals.  All one has to do is buy a Euro 1 raffle ticket and this automatically gives the holder the right to a prize!  We are expecting a good turn out over these next few days.

Our special thanks to all of those involved in these two fundraising events.
