The New Scale

One thing really needed at Aanifeira’s clinic was a proper animal scale for weighing in members’ animals as well as the resident animals.

Previously vet Claudia would first stand on the scale to check her own weight, then pick up the animal and get on the scale once again and see the total weight (hers and the animal).  Finally she would do a quick sum, subtracting her own weight from the total weight (herself and the animal) to reach a final conclusion of the animal’s weight!

What a procedure plus the scale was one of the small human ones, so certainly not convenient when holding a large animal and trying to see over its body at the small dial.

Always bearing in mind that Aanifeira is a non-profit association she came up with a great idea and late last year decided to ask each Aanifeira member, when they came into the clinic for a consultation, to donate Euro 1 towards a new scale.   Members didn’t seem to bat an eyelid and very kindly gave their Euro 1 towards this and it wasn’t long before her goal was achieved and the final sum was reached!

In late November of last year the new digital scale arrived and today animals can be weighed in as they arrive and members have the opportunity of seeing what their small donation went towards!

Great idea Claudia – what do you have in mind next?
